THE OFFSET!!!!

Thanks for taking time to talk more about this. I've heard so many voices growing up about "being normal" and "stop wasting time" - "narrow your focus on the practical". But I can see how that can pigeon hole the mind. We become linear thinkers, passively consuming the breadcrumbs big corporates feed us. Get a job, buy a house, stay in your lane, follow the people in front...

Ignoring the fact that we innately are explorers and creators. We should be getting lost in the forest and figuring things out by doing. I think thats the I love in videogames - no instructions just figure it out. Art has no "right answer"

I think also as AI grows we are driven to accept "the right answer" which kills the exploration.

Anyways - I will also try to lean into the weird and wonderful and maybe some non-linear magic will spark.

Love to hear this Rohan! And agree that AI will narrow the exploration for many people.

I love the idea of a permanent art setup in the living room, but while listening to the pod, I found myself wondering: is painting with friends instead of "just" chatting another form of constant productivity? I tend to do that - always finding a way to feel like I've used my time efficiently. Probably the reason why I love creating somehing while meeting friends so much! But maybe the point is to allow yourself not to be practicality at all… ?

Oh, and somehow, every episode I listen to comes with a new gadget I suddenly can’t live without - please, not too many episodes, I can’t afford that!🤭

Painting is more liek a way to have something we can look at while chatting, we're not trying to make anything good, just feels more natural to be doing something passive while chatting. Walking also works well!

Play has saved my life multiple times. We can't afford to only do practicalities. That's why we have AI 🤭 and automation.

Too much practicality becomes impractical. We need a break and roam (sometimes seemingly without purpose). Yes that's a good thing too.

By the way, have you gone for drives without a destination? It's been a while since I've done it. You made me think now I should go get lost!

Thank you, byeeee 😉

Yesssss. I've just started making music with my 6-year-old. She writes the lyrics, we jump on Suno to create a song and then film a music video. It's so fresh, creating and freeing. It's so important to make space for this stuff. We need an offset outlet.
