A very interesting step. I so cheer this up. Craving of a life where we focus on real creation and not creation for the purpose of feeding the algorithm.
I hadn't thought of Insta as porn before, but yeah it is - not just the boobies type but also other shit that makes you feel good in the moment but isn't actually productive.
That is a high resting heart rate! Sounds like you're doing the right stuff to address it - cardio, climbing etc. Cardio doesn't have to be like hard work though - zone 2 with a podcast is actually fun / interesting.
This is my fave podcast at the moment. I actually like that it's sporadic - you're not posting to meet the schedule, you're posting when you've got something to say.
And yeah, LinkedIn is mega-cringe and poorer for you being off it. AI slop has made it worse.
Thanks! You’re helping me reign in the mess of social I’m creating as I start my business. 🙌🙏 Also interesting to hear that your and Chads audiences are so different, different tribes.
And right now your ambient humming is cracking me up - you know the silent crack up on the train ❤️
"I don't, I'm happy that this podcast is audio only for the most part. I don't want to be fucking, I don't want you to look at me." buwaha. Same. I mean for me. I don't want to be looked at.
I'm enchanted by the sound effects. What are you using to produce them? I thought most of your episodes were straight off your smart phones. I was pleasantly surprised with the extra drama of the background music.
I fully agree with the social media break and stayed away from even creating other accounts outside of LinkedIn. Even with just LinkedIn, I can lose a whole session with one notification. I'm happy to see I'll have one less ding to take me away. (I'm already subscribed here, so keep this one coming).
I use an OP XY attached to a Rodecaster Pro 2 and play half of the stuff live or the other half baked into the Rodecaster with either my own music or music from Epidemic Sounds,
The music was extra hilarious this episode. I think I’ve listened to too many The Daily shows and I was presuming the music meant you were about to make an extra poignant comment.
I get it. I envy anyone that doesn't need a social media presence. Like, I am seriously jealous. 🥹
In addition to wishing I could say bye-bye to social media, I also wish I could say bye-bye to trying to get people to pay me money.
I sometimes fantasize about setting up some kind of widget to buy and sell crypto or stocks all day on autopilot (can I do this with the help of AI now??), so that I can just make cool creative stuff with cool people to give to other people for free without thinking about how to make money from it. I don't need to get rich, just enough to live simply. 😅
It was great meeting you and thank you for your time letting me interview you. I would have loved to ask more questions, but there was no time or energy for that on the last day. lol
I, low key, know that me tagging you in too many posts since we were in Palo Alto pushed you over the edge to leave LinkedIn. It's ok, I am happy to have helped you make your exit, Jonathan. 😜 😂 😂 😂

Thanks Julia!

Thanks Iain! Yes just need to get that Zone 2 going!!!
Loved this, as usual! Enjoyed the Philip Glass vibes at one point :D I'm also a big believer in scepticism killing people's chances.
i love phillip glass!

hahahahha
I'm getting distracted by what I think is Max Richter playing in the background. Am I right?
In the background you are either hearing music from the service epicurrence, or from my synth. They do sound like Richter but not him sadly!
Wait, you ARE Marc Rebillet????
yes thats me!

Ads obviously target people who scroll through feeds (linkedin, facebook, instagram, youtube etc.)
Do you think that we will have a more human / positive way to market in the future ?
I think organic content like this podcast and youtube are great alternatives

hahaha no, actually i love to be tagged! I was planning on doing this for a while, just decided to wait till after FSF to do it :)
Did I write this comment before I was even half way through the episode?
Yes. 🫣 😆
