Out of all the ‘new format’ episodes this has been the best so far. I adore the streaming of your rambles as it’s so refreshing but at the same time I love it when the topic stays as the red thread (as best you can) throughout the episode. Really enjoyed as always. Thanks dude PS Did you state the name of the study? I’d love to read it but couldn’t see it in the transcript. Is it this one? ‘The Effect of Deactivating Facebook and Instagram on Users’ Emotional State’?
Thanks Sam! I also think this is the first episode of mine that i'm truly "proud" of in terms of the info I managed to get out of my head. That is the study, yes :)
It also made me recognise the more info I put into my brain the more it fills up (duh, of course). Being AuDHD it’s made me realise I over consume on podcasts too much. Launching my own L&D consultancy this year I’ve absorbed every ounce of information I can via multiple platforms (people too). The result is I’m actually full now and have become paralysed. Time to stop and let the snowglobe in my mind settle so MY truth and clarify finally comes through. Keep doing what you’re doing with the podcast dude as I get loads from it. (I’ll keep listening I promise). PS: Any book recommendations for launching your own consultancy/business on your own whilst having ADHD? If not your best recommendation taking out the ADHD bit ;o)
Hey Sam, i totally feel the same with the brain filling up thing. We dont need more info we need more action. But info gathering is addictive.
I don't have any specific book receommendations for running a biz with ADHD, but since almost every entrepreneur I know has ADHD it's maybe... every book?
Had to pause when you asked for comments—because damn, I love the rant. You make me giggle and strike a chord at the same time. It matters.
This is the second episode I’ve listened to since getting your email about starting the new company, and promoting the interesting winter retreat 🤩(I actually started with the latest and am working my way backward). I really respect what you’re doing—please keep going. As far as I can give feedback: I appreciate the wisdom. I’ll be listening much more now.
The bit about "life spoilers" is so real! We are glued to our phones because we mistake vicarious experience for living our own lives. Great episode overall.
I think a big part of this problem came from when social media went from being online social spaces to being platforms that are literally designed to keep you engaged for as long as physically possible. The only social media app I have on my phone is youtube, and I’m constantly wondering if I should delete that too because of how often I catch myself just mindlessly flicking through youtube shorts.

I rarely watch movie trailers all the way through for the same reasons you describe. I want to enjoy it fully at the cinema!
Same!
I came for the music, stayed for the message.
thats the goal :D

thanks Karl!
Hey Jonathan! I love your podcast: believe it or not I've listened to EVERY episode since you started.
I recently switched from Spotify to Deezer and couldn’t find it there 😓
I tried adding your feed, and it looks like Deezer sent you a confirmation email. Hope it’s okay I mention it — I’d love to keep listening there ❤️
Ah intersting, I've never really heard of Deezer so I need to check how to send it to there :)
It seems easy: just go here https://podcasters.deezer.com/ and post your podcast rss feed (https://api.substack.com/feed/podcast/1156466.rss)

Youtube on my phone would KILL me dude.
